Bali's tourism levy: two years in, compliance remains low
In February 2024, Bali instituted a provincial tourism levy, one hundred and fifty thousand Indonesian rupiah, or approximately ten US dollars. This fee is to be charged per international visitor per trip. Revenue legally earmarked through the levy is allocated to cultural heritage programs, beach cleanup and reforestation, and infrastructure improvements in the island's most congested zones.
