Our Mission

Ecocuriean Traveler is a media and storytelling platform that explores culture, sustainability, and place through the systems that shape how people live, move, and dine. Through investigative headlines, destination analysis, and our upcoming narrative documentary series, The Bayou Table, we document the cultural, historical, and environmental forces embedded in everyday life—particularly within food, migration, and urban change.

Our mission is to make complex cultural systems visible and understandable by translating lived experience into accessible public storytelling. We focus on the intersections of heritage, identity, and environment, with an emphasis on communities and places often overlooked in conventional travel and media narratives. Ecocuriean exists to expand how people understand destinations—not as products to consume, but as evolving cultural ecosystems shaped by history, labor, and human connection.

Ecocuriean Traveler was founded by Dr. Susan J. Eddington, a media psychologist, accredited public relations counselor (APR), and trained journalist with more than 30 years of experience developing stories and strategy that use culture to engage, educate, and inspire audiences.

Dr. Eddington's work focuses on the psychology of storytelling, media effects, and the ways narrative shapes attitudes, behavior, and well-being. That expertise is the foundation of Ecocuriean Traveler's mission: using travel, culture, and cuisine as tools for genuine human connection and restoration, not just recreation. She is a Fellow at the Institute for Social Innovation at Fielding Graduate University and is a Past President of the Society for Media Psychology & Technology, Division 46 of the American Psychological Association. She continues to serve as a member of the organization's Board of Directors.

Dr. Eddington is also the founder of IMAGES-IMAGES, Inc., a certified Woman-Owned Small Business, and the creator and executive producer of The Bayou Table, Ecocuriean Traveler's flagship documentary series celebrating Houston's culinary heritage.

Founded in support of the UN World Tourism declaration marking 2017 "The Year of Sustainable Tourism Development", Ecocuriean Traveler carries that same commitment forward — building tourism and storytelling experiences that respect people, place, and the planet.
